Sunday is shaping up to be a great day for lovers of Seattle parks, gardeners and green thumbs. Here’s a roster of get-out-and-dos on and around Capitol Hill.
- One final community meeting to discuss the design of the future Broadway Hill and gather feedback is slated for Sunday afternoon. We most recently wrote about the project here.
Broadway Hill Park Community Design Meeting
When: Sunday, April 29, 2012 02:00 PM – 03:00 PM
Where: Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1300 E Aloha St
What: The Friends of Broadway Hill Park, Seattle Parks and Recreation and the park design consultant, SiteWorkshop, are holding a public meeting for Broadway Hill Park – formerly known as FedRep Park – on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1300 E Aloha St., Seattle, WA 98122.
At this community meeting, participants can provide input on site design which reflects the identity and character of the neighborhood. In particular, we will be reviewing details of the project; the garden, natural play spaces, the “front porch” upper part of the park, and other spaces.
This property located at Federal Ave. E and E Republican St., was recently acquired by Seattle Parks and Recreation with funding from the Parks and Green Spaces Levy. The community used a Neighborhood Matching grant to hire landscape architects SiteWorkshop, and design development started in February of this year.

On Sunday, April 29, we invite the community to learn about and celebrate the urban agricultural movement taking place in public spaces throughout Seattle. We will meet at Seven Hills Park (also at 16th and E. Howell) for a walking/biking tour of local gardens in and around Capitol Hill, then return to the Howell Collective P-Patch for a tour and BBQ.
- Don’t let the Broadway streetcar construction get in your way. The Broadway Farmers Market is soldiering on from 11a-3p Sunday.
