Community celebration for marriage equality bill a short trip down First Hill

We wondered whether the governor might choose romance in signing Washington’s new marriage equality bill into law. She didn’t. But after the signing, you can be part of the community celebration of the legislation’s passage planned for Monday night at the Plymouth Congregational Church at 6th and University. You can’t get married to a person of the same sex, yet, however. The new law won’t be in effect until this summer at the earliest. If you do, you might help boost the state economy. In the meantime, opposition to the new law has until June to collect the more than 120,000 signatures required to put a referendum on the fall ballot.

Red Dress Pre-Party on Capitol Hill
This week also brings the annual Red Dress Party benefitting Capitol Hill’s Lifelong AIDS Alliance and Gay City Health to name a few. Next Saturday’s pre-party is being held at the Grill on Broadway and to celebrate, CHS has two pairs of tickets to give away. All you need to do is hop over to the CHS Facebook page and leave a comment on this post by Sunday night Monday 1p (a bad link got posted so we’re stretching out the timeframe to be fair!).

Here’s the press release for the Grill on Broadway event:

Iconic Capitol Hill hot spot, The Grill on Broadway, will play host to The Official Pre-Party for this year’s Seattle Red Dress Event.

For owner Matthew Walsh, the decision was a no-brainer. A long time supporter of the LGBT community, Walsh is no stranger to hosting a wide range of events for charitable causes. “Seattle Red Dress’ commitment to its community is as unwavering as The Grill’s, so the partnership for their Pre-Party just made sense” said Walsh.

The Official Pre-Party will be hosted by none other than The One And Only MAMA TITS, Seattle’s Skyscraper hostess. There’s Red Dress themed drink specials, a sexy photobooth, and even a $100 cash prize for the Best Dress Contest. Come in early to get signed up! The Pre-Party runs from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and then it’s off to Fremont for a night of debauchery for a cause.

Among the groups will be both the Seattle Men’s Chorus and the Seattle Women’s Chorus. A later flyer corrected this error.
