Murder suspect spotted on Capitol Hill prior to being gunned down by SPD

Seattle police were investigating the use of a stolen credit card at the Broadway Market QFC by a wanted homicide suspect just hours before the suspect was shot and killed by detectives who tracked him down at 4th and Cedar Sunday afternoon.

Seattle Times reports that Eric Blaine Evans served 18 years for beating a teen girl to death with a baseball bat in 1988.

The man shot to death by police had been the suspect in Saturday’s murder of an 84-year-old man at an Interbay storage facility.

In the Broadway search, police arrived at the grocery store in the 400 block of Broadway E just before 1p Sunday. It is not clear if the suspect was still at the location at that time or had been seen using the cards there earlier.

The suspect was shot just before 2:30p on Sunday.

The King County Sheriff is investigating the police shooting.

Another scumbag eliminated without any tax payer money wasted on court and prison costs. Mission accomplished.

I must be mistaken about something. I was brought up to believe we live in a place where even the most guilty men get their day in court.

If this guy did do what he is alleged to have done to that elderly man, it is unjust and he should suffer consequences. No argument from me there. And if he really did attack those cops who confronted him about it, well that’s shameful too.

However… When I moved here from the northeast about 5 years ago, I was incredibly stunned at how many stories like this I’d seen around here. Seattle area police truly are adherents to the “shoot first, ask questions later” philosophy. It is shameful. Outright disgusting. Take them alive, guys. Send them to court. If they turn up guilty, send them to jail and throw away the key. But don’t fucking kill them in the street just because you heard somewhere they might have done something wrong, or you have an inkling. This is the attitude that killed John T. Williams.

And what’s worse? When I see these stories in the Times or the PI or even here on CHS, and a bunch of you dumb lumberjack redneck motherfuckers write comments saying “WOOHOO, JUSTICE SERVED!!1” No. Just no. Justice is served in court, not through some vigilante bullshit or police activism.
