Blotter — Couple pulls knife to skip $36 bill on Broadway, E Pike club drink assault

  • 1800 block of BroadwayPolice responded to an unnamed cafe in the Monday night just before 7p to a report that a customer had pulled a knife on servers when they tried to stop him and his female companion from skipping out on a $36 tab at the restaurant. No suspect descriptions are yet available as the full report on the incident hasn’t been released. No injuries were reported. The suspects were able to flee the area before officers arrived.

UPDATE: Here’s the full report from SPD:

Police Department. At 1830 hours I was dispatched to 18 Broadway, known as . When I arrived I contacted V/ . He stated that an intoxicated male and female were inside the restaurant causing a disturbance. He took them the bill ($36) and told them it was time for them to pay and be on their way. He said that acted like they had paid , and began to leave. When he looked into the bill it was empty. When he confronted the two, the male pulled out a pocket knife and said something like you don’t want to mess with me. V/ broke contact with the two, and called 911. An extensive area search was done with negative results. I provided V/ my business card with the incident number on it.

  • A man ended up in the emergency room early Sunday morning the 16th after being struck by a glass he said was thrown at him as he tried to push his way out during a disturbance at E Pike’s HG Lodge. According to the incident report, the victim told police the glass was thrown by a man he had an argument with earlier in the night. The man suffered cuts to his face in the incident.

I sure hope they find/arrest/incarcerate the sleazeballs who skipped out on a restaurant bill by brandishing a knife.

It’s more than a little depressing to hear that such criminals are afoot in my neighborhood.

People…please…we all live on the hill, now you are pulling knives. I am sure that the people working don’t want to take a knife for 36 bucks. I am sure they will be caught. Too many cameras and people afoot.

There are plenty of idiots residing on Capitol Hill so the bridge and tunnel crowd are the least of your worries.

Last I checked there have always been criminals in any town so thats just life. Until we build computers that can scan peoples intentions carry a gun.
