On Saturday, Seattle celebrates its 25th year of walking to celebrate survivors, remember those who have died and raise money to support the ongoing battle against HIV and AIDS. Here are pictures from the past including the early days when the walk started at the Seattle Center. For more on the 25th anniversary AIDS Walk and 5K starting Saturday morning in Volunteer Park — including a route map and schedule — see this week’s On the List. Thanks to Lifelong AIDS Alliance and the Seattle AIDS Walk for sharing the images.

… I cannot count the number of people I knew that died. I supported the first walk, assembled at Seattle Center in the stadium with Jean Endersen (KING 5) the host, and I surely support the event this year.
Please donate, the needs are still great.
Next year (2012) marks’ 25 years of HIV/AIDS diagnosis for me. It has been a long hard road for me, except when I moved to the SEATTLE area 15 years ago to begin a new life! You have made my life easier by the fact you are still here with me! Thank you for everything that you have provided for me in the past and future. Today is the 25th annual AIDS Walk in SEATTLE so good luck and PEACE!!!
