
July 8 – 11: Weekend closure of I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St.
The I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St. will be closed this weekend, July 8 – 11. Closure hours are Friday at 11:00 p.m. to Monday at 5:00 a.m. The next scheduled weekend closure of the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St. is July 22 – 25.
Detour route maps are available on the project website at:
www.seattle.gov/Transportation/ppmp_mercer.htm. Detour routes shown will be signed on roadways and may be heavily used, particularly Denny Way both eastbound and westbound. Travelers are advised to consider alternate routes to their destinations such as SR 99 or alternate I-5 exits and entrances.
During these closures, the I-5 on-ramp at University St. will be concurrently closed to provide more efficient traffic flow around the closed Mercer St. exit lane. Fairview Ave. N will also be closed between Mercer St. and Valley St. and Mercer St. will be closed to through traffic between Westlake Ave. N and Fairview Ave. N. All detour routes will be clearly marked.
July 8 – 11: SR 520 closure
Please note that the Washington Department of Transportation will be concurrently closing all lanes on SR 520 from 11:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, between Montlake Blvd. in Seattle and Interstate 405 in Bellevue. All ramps will close at 9:00 p.m. SR 520 from I-5 to Montlake Blvd. will remain open to traffic. Intermittent closures of 8th Ave. N at Mercer St.
Beginning as early as Monday, July 11, 8th Ave. N at the intersection of Mercer St. will be closed intermittently for up to 4 months to accommodate utility installations. As part of this work, the far right lane of Mercer St. between 8th Ave. N and 9th Ave. N will be concurrently closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the day or overnight from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Road closure on Mercer St. east of Fairview Ave. N
Mercer St. between Fairview Ave. N and Minor Ave. N is closed for approximately three months to accommodate underground utility installations and road reconstruction. Work is scheduled for daytime during the week, but road closures will remain in place at all times.
Continued intermittent night work crossing Mercer St. at 9th Ave. N and 8th Ave. N
Weeknight work hours for utility installations are from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
