Capitol Hill’s summer will expand by 3/4 of an acre this week before shrinking again to the tune of one sports grass covered playfield. Seattle Parks confirmed for us that Thursday is the momentous day. It’s been a huge topic for really big media. After 10 months of grass convalescence, the Cal Anderson turf repair project has come to a successful end. The chain-link fences are coming down.
CHS will be providing live coverage of the festivities. Tune in. And enjoy it while you can. Because on Monday, Parks tells us the Bobby Morris playfield lighting overhaul project will begin with a new set of fences planned to go up.
Its crazy that Seattle Parks can’t wait until September or October to take care of the light replacement. Seattle doesn’t get much of a Summer – so why keep residents out of one of the most heavily used parks in the city during prime summer months? Just doesn’t make sense.
