With Lookin4TallGuys putting in overtime in the CHS Flickr Pool, maybe CHS will just retire from the picture taking business (right after we take a few shots inside a new place this afternoon, that is). Here are a few snapshots of the freshly opened Blue Bistro’s Grotto on E Olive Way at Harvard and some information from owner Ross McCartney.
“We were absolutely packed,” McCartney said of Wednesday night’s debut. “I don’t think anybody has their feet under them the first week in a new restaurant. You walk around the corner and you run right into the cupboard.”
After you figure out where the cupboard is, the first thing you should know is that the Grotto is open for lunch five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday. That means right this minute. Unless you are reading this at night and/or on Monday or Tuesday when the Grotto is always open. The menu, McCartney says is, like Bleu Bistro, eclectic but with an emphasis on crostini and charcuterie. McCartney also describes it as “large.” Meanwhile, drinks will be familiar. McCartney calls his style of mixology more boutique and offers up the pamplemousse as his example cocktail.
When we last spoke with him in January, McCartney said the original Bleu Bistro faced an uncertain future due to issues extending its lease. Those issues are still at play, McCartney said but Bleu Bistro will continue at Broadway and John through at least September. The Grotto? Five days and seven nights a week.
you gotta push those long tables in the center up against the windows/wall. the space between the other end of those tables and the bar seating is WAY to narrow.
I am glad the Bleu Bistros are going strong. Can’t wait to check out the new one!
Hey Ross –
The new bread is better, but it makes the grilled cheese worse. Why fix what isn’t broken?
