The start of June means the start of Pride with a Thursday night party at the Lobby Bar to get things started and the 2011 roster of grand marshals for the Seattle Pride Parade — including two Capitol Hill business owners — announced.

  • First the marshals. Seattle Gay Scene has the details on the 2011 honors being bestowed upon Armistead Maupin and Daniel Hernandez, the Representative Gabrielle Giffords aide who rose to national notoriety. Also joining the marshal parade will be regular presence George Bakan of Capitol Hill’s own Seattle Gay News and Egan Orion, festival director for PrideFest and the daddy of Seattle flash mobs with his Hill-based One Degree Events.
  • Now the party. The first “official” event of Seattle’s 2011 Pride, Lobby is hosting a night of giveaways and drink specials to get the month of celebration started. Details:

$1 suggested donation at the door gets you a raffle ticket (you can buy more to help benefit Gay City Health Project), and we’re giving away tickets to RED with Brian Gorr and RED with DJ Spinderella, the hottest parties of Pride. T-shirts, VIP passes for the weekend, Concert For Equality tickets…we’re raffling all of these off throughout the night.

Our host is Fannie Mae Darling from Portland – he’ll just be on for a few minutes an hour, but it’ll be well worth it. Check out his act on YouTube if you want to see what you’re in for. Such a treat!

$3 Miller Lite drafts and special cocktails made with FUZE, Jager, and more!

See you at Lobby Bar for the kickoff to a month full of great Pride!

More Capitol Hill Pride 2011 Events
While the parade has moved downtown, Capitol Hill still serves as the center of activity during Pride. We’ll have more on these through the month but here’s the schedule of some of the upcoming HIll-based events. Bonus: We don’t know what sport will be sported but there’s a Lambert House benefit match this weekend pitting the Fat Cats vs. the Muffin Tops. UPDATE: We’re told the game is, of course, softball.

  • June 18th: Bat n Rouge — Dykes vs. Drag Queens softball at Bobby Morris playfield at Cal Anderson Park
  • June 19th: Pride Picnic in Volunteer Park
  • June 24th: Bend-it Collective
  • June 24th: Youth Pride Dance at Pravda
  • June 24th: Prom Dress Rugby (location TBD)
  • June 25th: Broadway Pride Festival
  • June 25th: Dykes on Bikes on Broadway

Here’s more for Lambert House!

This Saturday, June 4th, is the annual Lambert House Softball Fundraiser! Begins at 2pm. Bring cash for donations and a raffle!

Seattle drag celebrity, Gaysha Starr, will be the Master of Ceremonies and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be coordinating the raffle and fundraising.

This promises to be the gayest softball game you’ll ever attend.

amid the sea of men being honored, it would be great to mention that Force 10 Hoops LLC, the local ownership of Seattle’s only professional championship team (the Storm)in over 30 years, is also being honored.

Of course, seeing that SOAP didn’t even bother learning the name of the group (instead calling them “Seattle Storm’s Ownership Group”), it’s understandable why the only women being honored were overlooked.
