The financial scandal surrounding a contracting program gone rogue could cost Seattle Public Schools superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson her job as the school board votes Wednesday night whether to terminate her from the position she has held since 2007. As we noted earlier this week, a State Auditor’s report revealed $1.8 million in questionable spending around the programs, less than 1% of the city’s public education system’s total budget. And, as Slog pointed out, the termination vote comes right on schedule: Seattle school superintendents last about four years before we typically show them the door. Here’s more from http://saveseattleschools.blogspot.com/ who have been following the story closely, of course, and where there is a robust conversation about the issue:
Following an executive session, the Board has amended the agenda for [Wednesday’s] Board meeting by adding votes for the termination of the superintendent and the appointment of Dr. Enfield as the interim superintendent.
From the amended agenda:
“Approval of this item would terminate without cause the employment of Dr. Goodloe-Johnson as the District’s Superintendent.”
See the Board Action Report here.
And this one:
“Approval of this item would terminate without cause the employment of Donald Kennedy as the District’s Chief Financial and Operations Officer.”
With it’s own Board Action Report.
