First Hill to again host Chopp, Murray and Pedersen for 43rd District town hall

In 2010, the 520 bridge replacement was the big topic when the 43rd District Democrats brought their town hall to Harvard Avenue’s First Baptist Church. This year, the hot button issue can be what ever you want to bring up when you grab the microphone and ask a question of our 43rd Legislative District elected representatives. Maybe you’d like to thank Rep. Jamie Pedersen for his surrogacy bill or tell House Speaker Frank Chopp he should allow a hearing on legalizing marijuana.

Here are the details of the Saturday, March 12th session from http://43rddemocrats.org:

Town Hall Meeting with 43rd LD Legislators

March 12, 2011, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

OLYMPIA – House Speaker Frank Chopp, Sen. Ed Murray and Rep. Jamie Pedersen will hold a town hall meeting on March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Seattle First Baptist Church on Capitol Hill in Seattle. The lawmakers are taking a brief pause from the 2011 legislative session in Olympia to hear what’s on the minds of their constituents in the 43rd Legislative District.

As the Legislature works to address a large budget shortfall this session, the discussion is expected to center on state funding and economic issues, in addition to transportation, health care, safety-net services, civil rights, education, public safety and more.

The event is free and open to all constituents of the 43rd Legislative District, which includes Capitol Hill, University District, Madison Park, Broadmoor, Montlake, Wallingford, Eastlake, Greenlake and parts of Fremont, Ravenna, South Lake Union and downtown Seattle.

The 2011 legislative session began in January and will continue through late-April.

Questions can be directed to any legislator’s office:

House Speaker Frank Chopp, 360.786.7920
Sen. Ed Murray, 360.786.7628
Rep. Jamie Pedersen, 360.786.7826

Seattle First Baptist Church
1111 Harvard Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122

Ask these bastards why they refuse to resolve the “budget crisis” by making the wealthiest billionaires and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. Ask them why they support every tax increase for working people, but not their campaign contributors.

Such a wonderful democracy. Once a year the princes condescend to meet with the masses, listen intently, and then go back to Olympia where they continue to ignore us and we are left with war and fuzzy feeling that we’ve made a difference.
