We received quite a few notes about police cruisers blocking the street near Broadway Sunday night around 8:30 PM. Here’s what was happening. An SPD spokesperson tells us that officers made a traffic stop at Broadway and East Olive Way around 8:15 PM of a car with license plates listed as belonging to a stolen vehicle. When the stop was made, officers discovered that the person listed as the legal registered owner was at the wheel. Turns out, Everett Police Department had made a data entry error — the car wasn’t stolen. But the story doesn’t end there. As the situation was being cleared up, Seattle Fire says the male driver began complaining of chest pains and medics were called to the scene. When medics arrived, the man said he did not have chest pains, declined medical attention and the roadway was finally cleared. Like we said, just another night on the streets of the East Precinct.
Did anyone else hear that loud bang, presumably a gun shot last night?
SPD and Fire only occupied one lane of Olive for about half a block. Easy to get round via Thomas and Harvard.
Good mix of doing their job and not impeding the rest of us. Thanks SPD/Fire Dept.
I accidentally slammed my front door. Nothing to worry about, sorry to disturb you.
Yes I heard the loud bang too at Boylston and Harrison around 10ish? I would have guessed a gun shot too but I have no idea…
The “gunshots” that we occassionally hear are actually some crazy dude setting off cherry bombs in dumpsters – he’s been doing it for months. You can almost track him by the noises crisscrossing over the Hill.
I think it might have been power related. We heard the loud explosion and simultaneously two of our lamps went out. The socket they had been plugged into was non-functional. Twenty minutes later it was working again.
Boylston and Republican.
