Forecasters are split on whether we’ll see any snow this weekend and into next week as a chilly cold front moves in. The National Weather service says there’s a 50/50 shot starting Sunday:
Saturday Night: A chance of rain showers. Snow level 700 feet. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Snow level 400 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.
Monday: A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 35.
UW’s Cliff Mass says it’s unlikely we’ll see snow but, if we do, it shouldn’t be a problem for Thanksgiving travel.

50% chance of snow means that given “similar” conditions in the past, 50% of the time it snowed and 50% of the time it did not snow. Pretty much straight up frequentist statistics. There was no poll of forecasters’ opinions as to their feelings on the likelihood of snow.
Report a higher chance and watch people empty the grocery shelves. Fun times.
