The City of Seattle’s Neighborhood Plan process requires a special patience. In summer of 2009, when the city only wanted to talk to us about a possible update of the plans for Capitol Hill’s ‘hoods, nobody showed up the first time. A second meeting drew 15. The city took the hint and turned its attention to three other neighborhoods. Back in 1998, things were apparently different. This lyrics sheet featuring a goofy send-up of This Land is Your Land was added to the CHS flickr pool this week by the good folks at Seattle Municipal Archives who say it comes from the pre-millennial Pike/Pine neighborhood planning process. The song may be a goof, but they put together a pretty good plan apparently. For all its growth, Pike/Pine is still a pretty cool place whether you like the cupcakes and the condos or not. Nice work, hippies.
