Over the summer, we launched a sister site, First Hill Seattle. It was a good idea save for one thing. We didn’t have anybody signed up to help run the site to help it grow. For now, First Hill Seattle will go back to the idea stage and we’ll work to better cover the area here on CHS. We’ve always been busy on First Hill anyways. We hope to continue. We’re not as busy as those maker folks at Madison’s Jigsaw Renaissance, however. The community DIY workspace is celebrating this week with a Maketoberfest party. Here are the details from Jigsaw’s community evangelist, B Strand:
Jigsaw Renaissance will be hosting Maketoberfest on October 8th from 7:00 pm to 12:30 am. We’ll be serving beer from Odin Brewery (4$/glass) and members will present projects showcasing their talents with Arduino, Knitting, Photography, and Scratch programming.

Meanwhile, Capitol Hill’s maker pals at Metrix Create:Space are also celebrating. The creative technology space has been open on Broadway for 1 year come mid-October. You can stop by to wish them well. As for gifts, what do you give people who can make whatever they want?
Metrix Create:Space will be open for one whole year on October 15th, so we’re throwing a party. Come celebrate with us, we’ll shut off the robots and bring out the beverages. We’ll also be unveiling the new expansion, give out a sneak peak of what’s to come in the next year, and have some fun giveaways for our …members!
All ages are welcome, but there will be alcohol for the 21+

Does this mean I can write about First Hill and get more than 3 views?
Not sure exactly which post you’re talking about Brad, but audience and views were good for First Hill. It’s mostly just a matter of not having a site out there that we aren’t updating as regularly as we should be.
What do you give to people who can make whatever they want?
Well, we can’t make cupcakes or tasty snack foods at Metrix, so you could bring us those. But mostly, we’d just like you to bring yourselves – gift us with your presence :)
