A sign of business life on 14th Ave at Pine: Plan for new salon underway

The project is just getting started but as bleak as the situation looked last week for 14th Ave’s business future, we’d thought we’d share some happy signs of life right away. Following the announcements of three business closing in three months near 14th and Pine, we’re happy to report that a project to turn one of those spaces into a new Capitol Hill business is underway.

According to city records and a business owner in the area familiar with the project, a new salon called 14th Avenue Hair is in the preliminary stages of transforming the former home of Tiempo watch shop. Tiempo closed this summer after 13 years when its owners were moving from Seattle and were unable to find a buyer for the business. According to the city filing, the salon’s owner is Lori Anderson. We’re trying to track her down to learn more. You can always reach us for tips, etc. at [email protected].

I believe the salon owner Lori is the daughter of the buliding’s owner, Frank Buono…

…YAY! I’m happy something is opening in that spot.

I always loved Tiempo and was sad to see it go.

Hair salon, new, isn’t exactly exciting, but, welcome.

In My Opinion, the best haircuts I have even had are at Emerson Salon.

The best. Really.

Hello Neighbors,

I am Lori Anderson and I am so excited to see this article! What a fun surprise. I am, indeed, the daughter of Frank Buono, who owns the building. And yes, I am opening a three chair salon by the end of this November!

I worked on Capital Hill as a hair stylist from 1994 -2000, and Queen Anne from 2001 -2003. I have been home raising my two young sons for the past seven years. I am very excited to begin working outside of the home once again.

I, too, am sorry to see Tiepmo close. Jody has been a very loyal friend to my family. We will all miss her, her fabulous staff, and her unique clocks. She is sure to be successful at what ever she chooses to do next.

I am looking for stylists! If you’re a stylist who’s interested in leasing a chair at 14th Ave Hair, please email me at [email protected].

Looking forward to seeing you all soon,

Lori Anderson
