Break-in as Cafe Met gets ready to say goodbye to Olive Way

Seattle police responded Tuesday morning to a report of a busted out glass door on the front of East Olive Way’s Cafe Metropolitain. Here’s a report and picture from CHSTim on the scene:

I was walking my dogs this morning and saw a couple SPD cruisers parked along Olive Way and Harvard.  I then walked by Café Metropolitain and saw a couple officers behind the bar with their flashlights checking things out.  When I got to the front door, I saw this.

According to SPD, somebody broke the glass door and appears to have entered the bar early Tuesday morning but it was not immediately clear if anything had been taken in the break-in.

Cafe Met will soon be leaving East Olive Way to make room for CC Attle’s. The last time we checked in with owner Quyen Luu he was not sure when his final day of operation would be.

I think CC’s gets possession of the space on November 15th. They’re still hoping for a late December opening.

I know dancing on one’s grave is bad form… but still. Couldn’t think a more appropriate send-off.
