Red Dress, Halloween create high demand for fabulous: 6 Hill dress-up shopping spots

Saturday might be the busiest day of the year for dress-up shopping on Capitol Hill. Lisa Chang of Broadway’s Trendy Wendy probably knows what she’s talking about when she points out the coincidence of one more week until next Saturday’s Red Dress Party benefit for Lifelong AIDS Alliance and the usual scramble for awesome Halloween get-ups. By the way, the Red Dress site says many Broadway merchants are offering deals on red dresses so you might want to target that area for your hunt. Capitol Hill will also figure prominently in the Red Dress Party pre- and post- party activities. More on that below. First, here’s a list of Capitol Hill Halloween shopping hot spots.

Tell us about your favorite(s) in comments, please.

  • Metro Clothing, 231 Broadway East. “Goth-Industrial-Alternative-Military-Fetish-Rockabilly” clothing. Nuf said.
  • Red Light Vintage, 312 Broadway East. Stocks up extra for the big day. You might find something you can wear again after Halloween, too.
  • Castle Megastore, 206 Broadway East. If you’re going to do the sexy Halloween thing, you might as well go all the way. P0Rn!
  • Trendy Wendy, 211 Broadway East. ‘Corsets and rhinestones galore, Trendy Wendy goes up to 3X, Broadway Btq has womens shoes to size 16,’ Chang tells us via Twitter
  • Value Village, 1525 11th Ave, Stocks up and augments with leftover packaged costumes from I-dunno-where. Lots of kids stuff. Pro tip: Ask the staff before you settle on your pick. They’ve already dug through everything and know if there’s a cooler version buried on the racks.
  • Brocklind’s, 500 East Pike, We all already missed their annual garage sale. Boo. Brocklind’s is closest thing the Hill has to the higher end insanity that goes on at Champion Party Supply.

This is posted with a great picture.

But, oh my god the shoes.

Let’s hope a couple pair of nice pumps showed at the party, cause the spell breaks down with those 0LD sneakers …. really boys, so gross in flowing red chiffon, silk, taffeta and rayon. Really!!!

Well – linder – you made my point even MORE!

Pride parades are made for over the top pumps ….geez, kids, you all betrayed fashion and party garb and PRIDE too!!

Now, if they had been in skimpy RED underwear, the shoes would have worked fine, yes fine!

Some of these guys at tender years were not playing dress up with sisters …. nor really interested in what mom was wearing ….. at least there is some de-mysification ….. still, boys, the pumps, the pumps!!! Ask a lesbian ….
