Reminders: Celebrate jazz great Caliman, Pearl Apartments block party, Zionfest

Saturday’s forecast says ‘few showers’ — that’s practically summertime weather! Here’s a quick reminder of some excellent ways to spend your time around Capitol Hill this fine September Saturday. See you out there.

  • The public memorial and musical celebration for Pacific Northwest jazz artist and Cornish music instructor Hadley Caliman takes place at First Baptist on Harvard Ave starting at 11 AM.
  • An evening of jazz caps Zionfest. The event features family fun including bouncy house action and 3-on-3 basketball at Madison and 19th Ave’s Mount Zion church starting at 10 AM.
  • Capitol Hill’s last block party of the season happens at 15th Ave and Madison as the Pearl Apartments hosts a party along with local businesses and entertainers. The fun runs noon to 6 PM.
