Purr Golden Girls party benefits breast cancer foundation, Young Farmers mix at Highline

Two benefits tonight on the Hill that are a little out of the ordinary. Purr owner Barbie Humphrey has been publicly waging her own war against breast cancer, documenting her recovery via Facebook. Tuesday night, she’s hosting a Golden Girls viewing party and raffle benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

By the way, the foundation’s Seattle Walk for the Cure finishes on Capitol Hill next Sunday while Saturday sees Volunteer Park’s hosting of the Seattle AIDS Walk.

Join us as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of one of the best sitcoms of our time, The Golden Girls!

We’ll start the party by playing the first full episode, “The Pilot”.

Then, we’ll watch our favorite moments of the 7 seasons, on all of Purr’s brand-new flat screen TV’s.

…We’ll have FREE Cheesecake, fabulous Golden Girl drink specials, and a full Purr Menu. Stop by, anytime between 4pm-9pm!

We’re also going to raffle off the “Golden Girls: 25th Anniversary Complete Collection” packaged in Sophia’s trademark purse!. You’ll win it before anyone can buy it! We’ll have other fun prizes, including tickets to the Scissor Sisters concert!

Proceeds from this raffle will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

So, get your besties together, tell everyone about it, and see you at this very special Golden Girls Happy Hour!

Later in the night, Highline’s weekly Cakearoke party is even more special this week as Alleycat Acres hosts a benefit for the Island Meadow Farm Young Farmers Mixer planned for next month. Here are the details, future farmer:

What: A kick ass Cakearokee to raise money for an upcoming kick ass Young Farmer Mixer hosted by our pals over at Island Meadow Farm on Vashon Island.

When: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th at 9 PM.

Where: The Highline (on Capitol Hill).

Why: Who doesn’t like to eat, sing and be merry?

Who: Alleycat Acres, The Highline, Cakearokee & you, Ma, Paw, cousin Eddie, and some hitchhiker you picked up on the way down.
