But our Thai is excellent. I prefer Jamjuree on 15th Ave. Welcome! If you are looking in the indian/thai end of things, think ethiopian and visit Cherry. Just pick one. They’re all mostly great.

Jamjuree is good but my absolute favorite place to get Thai food is Jhanjay Vegetarian Thai Cuisine in Ballard. Granted this is a vegetarian restaurant but it has the most amazing flavors and super fresh everything!! If you want to stay on the hill you could also check Ayutthaya on Pike or Jup Jup Jup on Broadway.

Seattle also has excellent Vietnamese food too which is similar to Thai. Two of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants are the Tamarind Tree (on 12th and Jackson) — it is GREAT and has FANTASTIC prices. Lemongrass on 12th and Jefferson is also really good.

Indian food check out Travelers on Pine but they are only open for food on the weekend. You can also check out Cedars in the UDistrict or if you are feeling adventurous you could do Mayasian Food (which is a combo of Thai Vietnamese and Indian flavors) and check out the Malay Satay Hut! Best Mango Tofu/Chicken in town! And the Roti is to die for!!

My favorite place to go for Thai!

You might also check out the great selection of Ethiopian places in first hill and CD…its what I eat when I’m not eating Thai.

There’s also a great japanese ramen place called Samurai Noodle in the ID.

Indian food is better in Bellevue and in the U-District. The latter is fairly close to Capitol Hill, you can get there on one bus, or one of my preferred restaurants, Bombay Grill, has its own parking lot. I also like Jewel of India.

For thai, I too recommend Jamjuree. I keep wanting to try some of the other thai on the hill but can’t seem to tear myself away from there.

If you’re looking for something delicious and upscale (with a price tag that’s upscale as well), try Monsoon on 19th Ave E.

Sorry to say but Tamarind Tree and Lemongrass are good, but overrated and not cheap for vietnamese food. Plus you’ll find mostly non vietnamese people there at any given time, really. Huong Binh and Pho Quang are my personal faves.
For Indian I go to Mayuri with my gf who is also Indian. They have many levels of heat you can get with your food and I haven’t had anything spicier than theirs.
Thai food, don’t really have any off the top of my head.
For an additional recommendation, Chef Cafe on 22nd and Jackson has cheeeaaap and fabulous Ethiopian and the couple that work there are super nice. Order the Ketanga(sp?) . Pronounced (ketanya).
Welcome to seattle.

You should check out “Roti’s.” It’s authentic, affordable, and it’s never really that busy. The owners have a great sense of humor and love joking around with the customers. I highly recommend them. It’s the best Indian food I’ve ever had!
