CHS Pics: Volunteer Park gets medieval

With most of Seattle either out of town, at Bumbershoot or holed up downtown for the PAX Penny Arcade Expo, the first ever Medieval Country Faire in Volunteer Park soldiered on through an overcast day.

Powered by a $15,000 grant from the city’s Neighborhood Matching Fund, Saturday’s turnout — both on the crowd and on the knight side of the ledger — left some a little disappointed. We also heard there was some last minute confusion about things like whether there could be horses in Volunteer Park.

Did you go? Any advice for the first-time organizers? The event continues Sunday from noon to 5 PM.

And, even though you can’t ride your steed in Volunteer Park, it is safe to dance.

If you’re going to post that music video, you should at least post the literal version…

Our kids loved it, especially the performance of Robin Hood on the outdoor stage and the sword-fighting.

Maybe it could’ve used some music — like with some period instruments?

Hope to see it again next year!

Would have loved to have gone, but of course, was out of town.

Also seemed to be sparse on the advertising. The first time I noticed it was seeing a flyer stuck to a phone pole. Then CHS’s post.

Too bad they didn’t get a better turn out and hopefully they will try again next year!
