Summit Ave shut for bomb investigation

Both directions of Summit Ave at East Thomas are closed this morning as the Seattle Police Department bomb squad responds to a report of a possible explosive device found on a street nearby and brought inside an apartment in the area. According to a SPD spokesperson, a person told them he or she found an item in the area, took it back to the apartment and then called to report the find.

King County Metro has posted that bus line 14 is being re-routed due to police activity at Summit and E. Thomas.

Ah, once again, the stupidity of Capitol Hill people makes headlines…

Today’s lesson: don’t pick up suspicious packages off the street and bring them into your home. Don’t. No, really, don’t. It’s really really stupid.

Really? If that were my neighbor? And if it were a real bomb that blew my home to bits because she brought it inside our building? Maybe it would do the same thing from the street, but maybe not. Next time, leave a potentially deadly item where it is, call the cops, and let them handle it. Don’t bring it in to space you share with others!

What is the odds spread on a “suspicious package” being full of money or full of a bomb?

I would wager cash is more likely than an explosive device but that human feces is a lot more likely than cash…
