Another Capitol Hill street robbery to end July — UPDATE: And another

A flurry of street robberies on the Hill in the final week of July added at least one more to its tally on the last day of the month as a man was struck in the back of the head and robbed early Saturday morning near Harvard and Pike. According to East Precinct radio transmissions, the 30-year-old man suffered a laceration on the back of his head in the 12:30 AM attack. We do not know of any arrests related to this incident and do not yet have details on what was stolen. No suspect description was broadcast.

UPDATE: In another early Saturday street robbery, a man reported that he was on Madison at 19th Ave around 2:30 AM when a man walked up to him and jerked his necklace from his neck. Officers conducted an area check for the suspect who was last seen heading north. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s. No medics were called to the scene.

UPDATE x2: A man robbed the Harvard Square QFC at Broadway and Pike just after 5 AM Saturday. It’s unknown how much cash if any the suspect made off with. The suspect was described as an Hispanic male in his 40s, with a mustache and wearing a blue ball cap. An area search for the suspect was unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, in other East Precinct activity from the early morning hours, a 23-year-old woman told officers she was attacked by three other people including a woman who assaulted her with pepper spray in an altercation near E Olive Way and Broadway. A medic unit was called to the scene to treat the woman. Meanwhile, the assailants left the area in a cab and were being tracked down by SPD.

Since Belltown is being more policed these days, it looks like the small groups of thuggish teens that normally rob and assault drunks and others on the street at night have moved up to the Hill. I saw several roving bands about Pike and Pine last night and they didn’t look like they were on the street to join in any of the merriment. Since PC Seattle doesn’t like descriptions of said groups, I’ll leave that up to your imagination.

You know, I work in a sentencing alternative program and being PC has nothing to do with it. My clients are men and women of all races and ages. Including some pretty smartly dressed white guys.

Take a moment to read through the reports of such crimes in the area on this blog. You can’t argue with facts.
