The sidewalk on the north side of E. Pike between Bellevue and Melrose will be closed through Thursday as the Seattle Department of Transportation executes a repair job sidewalk improvement. The stretch runs along the side of Six Arms and will not, we think, affect the Eagle “sidewalk sale,” whatever that means @christopher575. It should also not affect the trees which have been fenced and marked for protection, nor the partial bicycle that remains chained to a pole in the middle of the work zone. We assume this all paves the way for new sidewalk seating at Six Arms. Nearby, we also noted a sign for something called “The Wonder Forge.” More on that soon, we hope.
Meanwhile, we’ve asked SDOT for any light they can shed on the mysterious bulging sidewalk the Stranger got so excited about last week. UPDATE: SDOT says it’s a Seattle Public Utilities thing involving a burst water pipe so they passed the buck. We’ll let the Stranger make that phone call.
Guys go to the Eagle looking for action, but many of them spend the entire night hedging their bets or just being too shy. For a good 20 minutes after they kick everyone out for the night, everyone stands around out front hoping someone will talk to them. It’s really quite adorable and I’ll admit I’ve been just as guilty of it in years past; that’s how I know!
I suspect the ‘The Wonder Forge’ window decal is related to the newish tenant upstairs there, ZimZala Games.
When is Essdot going to do something about abandoned bicycles? I’ve seen several in the neighborhood that are nothing but stripped skeletons.
They are called streetscape improvements like the new bench on 12th.
