You might want to sit down before you read this. We’re sorry to be the one to tell you. Cayenne Restaurant is closed. Thanks to this tip, we learned that the restaurant space built into the Silver Cloud Inn on Broadway at Madison — where wedding guests and business folk drank beers and enjoyed mediocre ‘southwest’ salads — is under construction and preparing for a new concept to move in. Even http://www.cayennebarandgrill.com/ has been taken over! The new guy is a joint called Jimmy’s on Broadway, a brother restaurant to stadium and sports talk crowd favorite, Jimmy’s on First.
Here’s the announcement from the Silver Cloud site:
The Silver Cloud Hotel – Broadway is excited to announce our new restaurant Jimmy’s on Broadway will be opening this coming June. Effective March 12, 2010, our existing hotel restaurant will be closed for the renovation period and room service will not be offered until Jimmy’s grand opening in early June.
From the site, you’ll learn that the Capitol Hill Jimmy’s faces lofty expectations. “Building on the success of Jimmy’s on First located at our Stadium property, Jimmy’s on Broadway will offer the same energetic atmosphere and culinary experience!” They’re also hiring.
Jimmy’s won’t be the only sports-minded establishment in that neck of Capitol Hill’s woods. We reported earlier this year about Auto Battery, a sports and news bar (think lots of TVs) from the Po Dog people, planned to open on Union. No word on when Auto Battery will be open for business.
Went there several times to try it out – always closed.
Maybe the next incarnation will get it right … value priced excellent steak house?
Yay for Jimmy’s on Broadway! Great hotel martini bar coming to Broadway and Madison! Soo exciting!
