Spectator photos: Broadway medical building is coming down

An abandoned medical building on the edge of Seattle University’s campus that was the scene of an overdose and an arson in the fall is being demolished.

The building has been empty for several years and is owned by a Texas-based real estate investment firm. The demolition began Monday and will continue until March 19.

Central District News reported in January that the building has asbestos and other hazardous materials that require special disposal.

A fire in the building Nov. 21 caused $100,000 in damage and was determined to be an arson.
