A two-car crash involving a Seattle Police Department cruiser is causing traffic issues near 18th and Madison this morning. According to SPD, the patrol car’s air bags deployed in the collision that occurred around 9:28 AM. The Seattle Fire Department deployed to the scene as a precaution, but an SPD spokesperson said there did not appear to be any serious injuries. Traffic will be impacted in the area through the morning as the SPD’s traffic collision investigators document the crash. We’ll update when things are back to normal and the SPD posts a report about the incident. SPD said that the officer involved was not in pursuit of another vehicle when the crash occurred. According to an e-mail from Kelly, traffic is a bit of a mess: “Looks like something is going on at 19th & Madison, traffic east is being routed off Madison and buses have stopped at 18th and riders had to get off.”

On March 25th at approximately 9:28 AM, a Seattle Police officer in a marked patrol vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the intersection of 19th Avenue and East Madison. The male officer sustained minor injuries and sought treatment later at a local hospital as a precaution. The female driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene by the Fire Department and then later taken to the hospital as a precaution. There were no life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded to the scene and will conduct the investigation.
The accident is at 19th and Madison. One lane is open for those heading east on Masison. Those heading west are diverted onto 18th Ave
