A woman walking near the corner of Mercer and Harvard Ave E was attacked by three men early this morning who attempted to steal her purse, according to police radio reports. It’s not clear at this time if anything was stolen but we know the woman was able to get away and make her way a few blocks to Sun Liquor where she called police.
Police officers spread through the streets near the attack and K9 units were deployed in the search for the three men but we heard nothing about any arrests in the radio reports. Officers were working with a very general description of the attackers. The woman described the three as either black or hispanic males in their 20s wearing dark clothing.
CHS was tipped to the attempted purse snatch by Christine who sent us an e-mail today about the early morning heavy police response. You can reach us at [email protected] or call us at (206) 659-1919 with tips.
SPD is working on gathering the reports from last night’s incident before confirming details. We’ll update when we hear back from them.
Tips via text!
It’s a Google Voice front-end for my cell because, even though the tech is wanting, it’s useful to have transcript in the middle of the night sometimes. But the text factor is something that has been gnawing at me. I’ll keep the Voice number posted but here’s the number for texts: (206) 399-5959.
This makes me so nervous! I live right there! God I am beginning to hate Capitol Hill!
Ugh… I get home late at night sometimes and I’m always nervous but watchful as I get back to my apartment. The new unrestricted parking right there on Mercer makes me especially nervous, because someone could be hiding behind them.
