As we noted last month, the Buzz Stop’s longtime operator, Roberta Falk decided against signing a lease with the new owner of 1111 East Union Street, Union & Madison LLC. Today marks the official debut of Barista Boyz. Thanks for all the tips about the new name for the little walk-up coffee shop. They were open last week but not their full, normal hours. I spoke to Wayne, one of the eponymous barista boyz, and asked him about the name.
He told me that the name is meant to appeal to Capitol Hill gays, and the coffee stand will be staffed with cute (but fully clothed) baristas. Barista Boyz will not be competing in the bikini barista space. Their hours of operation will be 6 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 6 am to 3 pm on Saturdays. imho it’s corny when sex is used to sell coffee whether it’s girls in bikinis or “boyz”… just my 2 cents. i’m sure the boyz are nice kidz…

three times now they didn’t show up in the morning….twice around 7:30 and once at 8 they weren’t there. if they’re so bizzy partying that they can’t find a way to open the shop, i’m out.

I think they’re fantastic guys. It’s a great idea and great coffee! You have to try it before you can knock it even if you have the right to your opinion! Let your tastebuds and eye candy do the talkin!
