An item that someone believed to be a bomb shut down Bellevue between Pike and Pine this evening for about a half hour as police officers cordoned off the street and investigated, a source told CHS. The source said the package was determined to be safe and the street was re-opened around 9 PM. The source could not say what the item was or who reported it. CHS was also unable to see where officers were working among the apartments and businesses on the street.
There’s been a bit of a lull in the reports of possible explosive devices that turn out to be safe on Capitol Hill. This spring, Seattle Central’s campus and the surrounding streets were shut down while a bomb squad investigated a report of a suspicious item that appeared to be an explosive device. That item turned out to be a damaged cable junction box.
