Seattle Transit Blog has details of this afternoon’s light rail ‘University Link’ groundbreaking ceremony at Husky Stadium. Dignitaries included U.S. Senator Patty Murray and Mayor Greg Nickels.
On Capitol Hill this afternoon it was a different story as the work has begun to demolish the empty buildings from the lots where the light rail station and tunnel will be constructed.
Didn’t see any ground being broken but I did see two workers with push-brooms moving dirt around the lot behind the old Jack in the Box.
I also saw the backhoes and treeboxes in place and ready for the destruction phase. Time to start digging.
