Slim pickings for Hill Thanksgiving restaurants

Broadway Grill T-giving menu

Are you going to be a Turkey Day orphan this year? Not interested in wasting your day in the kitchen? Like turkey tikka masala? I’m starting this thread to keep track of which restaurants are open for your Thanksgiving feasting pleasure. Add anything you find out about or can recommend from past experience in the comments. We’ll worry about which coffee shops are open on Turkey Day closer to next Thursday.

Here’s the two we’ve been able to track down:

  • Broadway Grill: They’ve been advertising their Thanksgiving buffet for a few weeks now.
  • Chutney’s, 15th Ave: They were open last year and I assume they’ll be open again this year.

Also, if you know run into anybody who needs a good meal, Mount Zion Baptist Church is hosting a free Thanksgiving feast from 11:45a-1:45p.

I had T-Day dinner with my parents at Charlie’s a couple years ago. They had a $15 special that included what you would expect, including pumpkin pie. Damn tasty, actually. I think I even called in a reservation just in case, but it wasn’t even that busy when we arrived.

Awesome. That sounds like a good reco. I’ll call them when I get a chance to confirm they’re open. (not turkey orphans this year so i’ll be calling for the people!)

I’ll hope to be going out for Indian food again this Thanksgiving. It’s the only way for a vegetarian to approximate the gluttony of the rest of America (sorry tofurkey) Did Taste of India in the U District last year and am hoping Annapurna or Mirch Masala is open this year. Or may even try Chutney’s buffet…

So anyone have recommendations for good Thanksgiving meals prepared by grocery stores around here?

We celebrate the day with family but we like getting our own prepared turkey and fixings so we can enjoy lots of leftovers w/out any prep.

Dinette sent out invites to their dinner event, but I think it’s limited to 40 people or something. Might not be sold out yet though.

A little off the Hill, but 13 Coins always has a Thanksgiving Day menu. Reservations needed, though — we tried walking in last year without a reservation and were basically laughed out. :)

But you can also go to OpenTable.com and figure out pretty easily not only which Seattle-area restaurants are open, but which have ability. =-)

Does opentable.com list Bimbo’s? Nope. But saw their (gross turkey!) sign today — they’re open on T-giving if’n you want a burrito.

Open Table only lists restaurants that take reservations through their web site. In other words, the most expensive ones.
Last year I went to Mirch Massala on Broadway (near John). They had a Thanksgiving buffet a la India. Turkey curry – yum! They also had traditional Indian food in the buffet if Turkey’s not your thing. Not sure if they’re doing it this year but worth checking out. Avoid the cranberry chutney – they sweeten the heck out of it. Someone must have neglected to tell them it’s SUPPOSED to be bitter LOL

This isn’t a complete list, but still more inclusive than Open Table:

QFC’s turkey dinner is good. I had this last Christmas, from the Harvard market.
