I am doing my homework about my upcoming move to Miller Park and am curious — where is the local post office? Is it the Broadway location? 23rd and Union? I saw that the Postal Plus on Republican is the nearest place from which to send mail, but I admit I’m very skeptical. These reviews make it sound like sending mail can be a pleasant experience!
I love Postal Plus – Ed is very helpful and knows his stuff. He’ll tell you what the best method or least expensive method is for your packages and even has free peanuts and packing materials on hand to use. It’s a huge contrast from visiting the “official” Post Office on Broadway or the one on 23rd and Union which actually serves my address near 15th. Plus, it’s a local small business, which is the lifeblood of the neighborhood. :-)
23rd and Union PO also sucks because that corner is a mess and still attracts a lot of sketchy behavior even with the new police shack. I hate walking there and pretty much always drive with is lame. I’d rather go to the PO downtown.
As for Postal Plus, wow, you got something for free there? I think I got a tape fee once but, yes, it is a local business and you can get most anything postal you need taken care of there for a nominal fee.
I use Postal Plus and have had pretty good luck over the years, though I mailed a big box of gifts from them a couple years ago and it never arrived at the intended address. No idea whether the loss was the fault of Postal Plus or the USPS, but I do think about this every time I mail a package from Postal Plus. And maybe it’s just me, but I don’t find the proprietor to be particularly friendly. And I’ve seen him be fairly nasty to others. Having said all that, I still use them for all my postal needs, as they’re a block from my house.
Well, if you are ever driving the 23rd and Union one has a parking lot (as opposed to 15 minutes spots on the street for the Bway PO).
The Postal Plus guy could have been a Seinfeld character.
I like the UPS Store above the Harvard Market QFC, but only if I don’t deal with the store owner. He’s been an overbearing, micromanaging, stubborn jerk to me several times, but his employees are wonderful and very helpful. I use them because I want someplace secure to receive packages and mail (but if I want to send a package, I go to the USPS. Cheaper.)
I have used this post office outlet for 3 years and you couldn’t find a better place.
