Well, first I'd like to state here that I really appreciate this blog, and I am pleased to discover that so many of us Cap Hill dwellers are frequenting it!

I am new to this blog; so, I don't want to start posting like I own the place. I'll introduce myself first.

My name is Jonathan VeraKat, and I live in the Volunteer Park section of the Hill. I moved to Seattle from DC about 3 years ago. I'd like to think that I am well acquainted with Seattle, as I have have been fortunate enough to work all over the city, from Downtown to Belltown to Queen Anne, Fremont, and Greenwood. I've even worked outside of Seattle in places like Kent, and Renton! I've covered a lot of ground in a short period of time, and I've made a lot of great friends along the way!

When I'm not doing odd jobs, I'm trying to get a lot of writing done; hence, the title above! Last year I concentrated a lot of my creative energy on producing a literary zine that connects the general community of Seattle with the literary community of Seattle. I am proud to say that my dream came to pass on the night of  February 27, 2009, which is when my first self publication, XVIII, was released at Twilight Artist Collective in West Seattle. It was very exciting, and I am very much so looking forward to the second installment of XVIII which will be released February of next year. But before then, I will need to conduct more interviews, receive submissions, print copies, and plan an event. Right now I am in the first phase of production which means, right now I am conducting interviews for the next issue of XVIII which explores "TheYouth."

So, the question that I pose to the CHS blog is: Would anyone out there like to be interviewed? I usually interview folks in person with a digital recorder, or I'll set up a phone interview. Also, I am open to experimenting with an online interview to where I could post the questions on a message board just like this one, and anyone could reply. Ideally, I would like the majority of my interviews to be in person and recorded, because I am fond of the emotion that can be heard in a voice, and within this project these interviews are going to be directed at mostly writers, and a few visual artists.

I'm sure if you're reading this you have at least a few questions at this point; so, I'm going to provide a link to a blog that I recently put together. There's more detailed information about who I am, and what is that I am trying to accomplish on the link below:

Feel free to post any questions or comments you have, as I will be quick to respond!

Thanks!
