The whole town is going to be a mess starting today:
We've got 3 mariners games, may day, the pot march and the march of dimes march (march of dimes march?)

Should be fun! I'm going to get a case of beer and my walking shoes and just mosey around locally, I think

Bus bulbs
Bad idea or terrible idea? So from what it looks like on the summit to belmont picture, it looks like it'll make vehicular traffic unable to pass buses and the buses will block the bike lane. Sounds pretty dangerous to me.

Anyone know what the hours are going to be going forward?

RE: Maybe the point of on-street racks isn't just bike parking...
Yes, let's make it impossible to park cars on the hill. You have wonderful ideas and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

For the love of all that's holy.
No more of those stupid, wasteful, inefficient, irritating and--this is the most important one--unused on-street bike parking. Some scooter/motorcycle parking would be great on the 12th-15th area, and maybe down towards Broadway as well.

But every time I walk or drive past those on-street bike parks (especially that godlessly tacky one outside of Stumptown), there are somewhere between 3 and 0 bikes in them, which I think would make replacing them with sidewalk racks feasible.

RE: What noise?
According to Bruce Grey, who is with SoundTransit, the tunneling is going to go from UW to the Hill, making most of the dirt come out of the UW side. I don't understand why having to bulldoze some buildings and dig downwards is goign to require umpteen years of 24 hour a day dumptrucks on Denny and Olive (I wonder how long until someone gets hurt by one--my vote is in the first 2 months).

As for jseattle over in the fancy pants neighborhood, I think your permissive approach probably differs from that of the thousands who stand to be much more impacted by a permissive approach like that. From what I understand, the noise variance project is mostly a rubber stamp to begin with, but at least it gives we the people a chance to give some input (at 10:25 on a workday, usually :).

Woo
I'm really excited about both that and the Dump Truck Rally on olive and denny.

Either I'm really excited or thinking of moving off of the hill, one of the two.

Discriminatory
Why not be INclusive instead of EXclusive. As a non-gay person who believes in being left alone, I'm all about queer rights, but when I see things--dance nights, activities, meetings--that are labeled gay and implied gay-only I feel like I'm not welcome there.

Gay folk have straight folk who will stick up for them, just don't make us feel as unwelcome as the assholes make you feel!

Safety Stuff
One of my big concerns about the demolition is pedestrian traffic on olive and denny with all the dump trucks going up and down. There is quite a bit of jaywalking that goes on in that area, and the olive way-bellevue intersection is sort of..complicated.

Refused to say
What is the deal with our chickenshit culture where our employees--the SPD--refuse to give a straight answer to a simple, non-sensitive question?

That stuff drives me OUT OF MY MIND!

RE: denny & melrose pick up
I bet we'd get some results if we shoved all that shit into the middle of Denny.

Styrofoam
I think that only the bag ban part is being voted upon, but the bullshit styrofoam thing is still on. This is really going to put a hurting on small local businesses.

Hah!
I saw fire trucks outside of QFC the other day and was concerned that a shoplifter had spontaneously combusted.

RE: I'd like to thank
I think leaving a giant mound of trash--including a mattress--for others to clean up counts as asshole behavior.
One can have a great time and still be an asshole. I'm sure the guy who spray painted that Obama mural was having a great time, but he's still an asshole.

I walked down to Melrose and Denny during sled night to see what the ruckus was, and it was hipster assholes, as far as the eye could see.

the hipster assholes for leaving a giant pile of trash at melrose and denny. I thought those tight-pantsed losers were supposed to love the environment and ducks and stuff.

Stupid
I was sitting at clever dunnes, drinking a few beers and watching the quality service from SDOT.

Really? Bring out the articulated buses? And put those chains on them? The ones that seem to be made from some sort of jello?
God, that's why I voted against prop 1.

Insanity!
There are fireworks and screaming on olive at bellevue, with various incidents of urination happening on the saint's building. It's nice that people are having so much fun out there! I keep seeing people go by on snowboards and cross country skis.
