Oh, sorry. You're a chicken rancher? Our bad. 15th Ave's The Cherry Hill Urban Farm is hosting a chicken coop building party and BBQ potluck on Saturday. We checked in with Scott Allison, one of the farm's organizers, about the event -- sounds like a fun way to get into the hyperlocal food thing and meet some future farmers of America types, Seattle style. They'll also have chicken coop experts on hand to help you build your own.
We are going to have an all day event at our urban farm on Cherry Hill this Sat. So if you are sustain-ably minded, a gardener, an urban farmer or would simply like to attend a fun gathering for those in the local area please stop by.We really hope to be building several coop, live chickens, live music, a nice BBQ and potluck and a few good spirits among us here on the new urban farm in Capitol Hill. We are going to be hosting other sustainable events throughout the year
The chicken coop will be built here on Sat and if you want to get the...

Townhouses on 14th
I like the look of these Pb Elemental designed townhouses at 14th and Spring. Great location and views, just a little pricey for my taste (not that I could sell if I wanted
Do this:
Seattle hip-hop’s magical new wave is pumping up the revelry to the same degree old-school Seattle pumped up the melancholy. In my opinion, Mash Hall beats out fellow hip-hop acts Mad Rad and Champagne Champagne, both in the strength of their aesthetic (sweaty ’80s throwback rap) and their sheer level of energy. They played a packed, off-the-cuff show at Moe Bar on President’s Day eve that left the place feeling like that blown-out post-house party scene in Sixteen Candles.

Early Monday morning, officers received a call from a man in West Seattle who said that his roommate had been attacked on Capitol Hill nearly an hour before, according to a police report.
The victim "spoke very little English," but his roommate translated for police, records say. The man left a nightclub around 12:30 a.m. and was walking by himself down 13th Avenue near East Madison Street. "As he passed a dark parking lot, he was accosted by four unknown males who
Some prefer their nightlife a little harder. Now every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Monday of the month Pony bar (1221 E. Madison, Seattle) presents "Dirty Deeds" with DJs Jodas Priest (aka DJ Jodi Bon Jodi) and Lil' Ozzy (aka DJ Porq).
Hipsters take on the Metal Gods.
"Bang your head metal health will drive you mad!"
Probably more fun than you're suppose to have on a Monday night.
Next event is Monday February 8th and Dirty Deeds is on facebook.
Donna Moodie’s restaurant Marjorie, which closed at its Belltown location, is re-opening its doors on Capitol Hill just off 12th Avenue. The Seattle Times has a good article with all the details here and we look forward to checking out the restaurant when it opens at the Chloe (1412 E Union).
In the article, Donna shares her excitement about the move to Capitol Hill, and how the vibrancy of the neighborhood and the proximity to the Central Area were important factors in the relocation. We can’t help but toot our own horn a little bit and note that Capitol Hill Housing might have done some not-so-subtle advertising to encourage Donna to relocate to this area. What can we say, we’re proud of 12th Avenue and know that this area has a lot to offer as well as a lot to gain from engaged business owners.
Look for Marjorie to open in the coming months!
Saturday February 13th and Tuesday February 16th is Mardi Gras at Cuff Complex with the Sister of Perpetual Indulgence:
Lent is coming… If you are Catholic, you know that means forty days without something you enjoy. If you are not Catholic, you probably feel bad for your Catholic friends. Either way, let’s party before it gets here. Let the nuns help in the celebration. The Sisters would like you to join us issuing in Lent with a bang. There will be costumes, and flesh, and DV8 Casting models. Let’
Today’s pick:
1. I’m somewhat hesitant to recommend Mad Rad, whose music runs the spectrum of taste from tolerable to stupid. They spend versus yelling about panties and how “superdope” they are. Given all the smart hip hoppers in Seattle, the attention given to Mad Rad can be frustrating.
But their shows are something to behold. Their energy is unnatural. At least one of them clearly went to theater school (which makes sense, because their white hipster-hop can seem more like a staged parody of hip-
Remember the charming black iron work and patio at Marjorie's Belltown location on Second and Battery? When Marjorie's owner Donna Moodie lost her lease on that space in July 2008, her goal at the time was to move to a similar older building with character (she seemed particularly inspired by Lark/Licorous) on Capitol Hill. At the time, she told Nancy Leson, "I have no desire to be in a newer development." Well, it sounds as if she may have compromised a bit on her wishes. Marjorie announced today on their Facebook page that they have just signed a lease at 1412 East Union, the Chloe. I look forward to happy hours there (the $12 mojitos were a little too spendy for me -- but $6 I can handle).

On Friday, January 8th at 10:43 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call of a carjacking at MLK Jr. Way South and South Graham Street. They located a victim who told officers that two male suspects stole his white Ford Mustang convertible after holding guns to his head. The suspects fled northbound on MLK Jr. Way South along with a silver Mercedes 500 occupied by at least one male suspect.
At 11:46 p.m. a victim called 911 to report his car being stolen at gun point by male suspects near Renton Avenue South and South Cloverdale Street. His car was a silver Mercedes 500.
While officers were searching the area Gang Unit detectives who were on patrol noticed the silver Mercedes traveling north on Rainier Avenue South. A passenger was released from the Mercedes at Rainier Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street. The vehicle then continued northbound and officers lost sight of the vehicle.
Guardian 1 was dispatched to assist in the search for the suspects, but had to return to...
It may not be one of the Twelve Days of Christmas but LUST is coming MLK Weekend on Saturday, January 16, 2010. After last weekends Rewind Party at Baltic Room with DJ Brian Gorr, which anyone that went could tell you had an incredibly fun crowd, was packed the rafters and truly the dance party of the year, I am certainly looking forward to DJ Ted Eiel for this January LUST event at Neumos.
There is even going to be a free pre-party at Purr from 7pm-9pm and an after dance party "From Lust till Dawn"
At the location most recently known as King Cobra (918 East Pike Street), Capitol Hill's newest LGBT bar Lobby Bar, officially opened for business only hours after receiving its occupancy license.

On December 8th at around 9:38 a.m., East Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the 800 block of 20th Avenue Street. The 20-year-old male suspect had pointed a gun at his step-father, threatened him and then fled the area with a friend prior to police arrival. Officers conducted a search of the area and located the suspect and his friend in the 2200 block of South Jackson Street. The gun was not in his possession.
A Washington State Patrol K9 responded to assist in an evidence sweep. The K9 successfully located a loaded 357 revolver in some bushes near where the suspect and his friend were detained. The suspect was arrested and later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Harassment and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The “friend” was arrested and booked for an outstanding Seattle Municipal Court warrant.
On Wednesday Dec 16, celebrate the miracle of Hanukkah at Sole Repair and honor eight community leaders who have been influential in our local fight for equality from 7pm - 9pm.
During the Festival of Lights we remember the importance of standing up for who you are. Each candle we light of the menorah reminds us of the story of the Maccabees and the light inspires us to continue working for justice and equality in the GLBTQ community.
And they will have it all, from latkes to dreidels, and the evening
The First Hill Streetcar is funded, the agreement to build it is approved, and now all that's left is for the city to decide exactly where it will go before detailed design and construction begins.
Here at CDNews, we strongly believe it should run on 12th Avenue in at least one direction, as it's a prime street for new residential and retail development, is level and pedestrian friendly, and puts gives the east side of the Central District a new transit option and connection to light rail.
The city has planned three open houses this month to gather citizen input on the route and share information about the project. Make plans in your calendar to attend at least one and make your opinion known:
- Tuesday December 15th, 6:00pm-8pm, at Seattle Central Community College
- Wednesday December 16th, 6:00pm-8pm, at the Yesler Community Center
- Thursday December 17th, 6:00pm-8pm, at Union Station downtown
Here's the 12th Ave Loop route idea that's gotten a lot of attention:

-- From Times staff reporter Sara Jean Green:
A woman was held up at gunpoint on Seattle's Capitol Hill Tuesday night and was struck in the face after she handed over her money, according to Seattle police.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to the report of a street robbery in the 1800 block of East Republican Street, police said. The victim told officers she was approached by a man who appeared to be holding a handgun. He immediately demanded money and she complied, according to police.

On October 27th at around 10:30 p.m., East Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a street robbery in the 1800 block of E Republican Street. The adult female victim reported to officers that a suspect approached her while holding what appeared to be a handgun. He immediately demanded money. The victim acquiesced to the suspect’s demands. The suspect, in turn, struck her in the face and ran away.
The victim’s injuries were minor and she declined medical aid. Officers set up containment and attempted a K9 track but were unable to apprehend the suspect. Robbery detectives will follow up on this investigation.
Did you know that the 12th Avenue Urban Village is part of the Central Area Action Plan? This plan, adopted in 1999, calls for very specific improvements to 12th Avenue in a variety of areas - housing, retail, streetscape, parks, transit - to name just a few. North of Madison Street, 12th falls within the Pike/Pine Neighborhood Plan and the Capitol Hill Neighborhood Plan.
The City Planning Commission and the Neighborhood Plan Advisory Committee (NPAC) have been hosting a series of "neighborhood plan check-ins" over the summer. The Central Area has successfully scheduled a "redo" of their last meeting due to poor turnout. At this meeting there will also be tables set up to check-in with Pike/Pine and Capitol Hill residents. Please come out and join the dialogue on how your neighborhood is doing!
