New Work by Brad Biancardi
Followed by resident DJs SunTzu Sound Free!!
Biancardi often works within the mediums of drawing, painting, photography and collage, utilizing many basic formal tools. Contemporary culture is a strong influence for Biancardi; part of his creative process is embracing its consumption, contemplating it, sometimes discarding it and other times utilizing it to benefit his paintings. Though the paintings often begin as referential drawings, they eventually abandon their dependence on these influences and exist somewhere between invention and representation. Linear perspective, a vivid color palate, symmetrical references and asymmetrical nuances bring life to the work and add an aesthetic quality that is unique to Biancardi. This Bike Deserves a Painting consists of new, 2-dimensional, oil, acrylic and collage on canvas as well as a site-specific installation in collaboration with Seattle artist Jason Wood who, together, make up the art duo Stars and Stallions. This site-specific installation will include elements of 2D, 3D, sound and audience participation. Stars and Stallions will be recording the progress of the installation with commentary, images and video on our blog (greygalleryandlounge/blogspot.com) from July 5th through 9th. |
