Slog tipper Kim directs your attention to this news item, filed by Seattlepi.com reporter Casey McNerthey, in which a man attempts to prevent would-be thieves from stealing his car: "When questioned about the incident, (the man) stated that he had set a booby trap as an anti-theft device by placing his loaded .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver with the hammer in the cocked position under his steering wheel," Gang Unit Detective Rob Thomas wrote in a police document. A man was been stabbed in Ballard this evening. The initial report was that the man interrupted a burglary at his home, but police are still trying to establish what happened. Police and medics are on their way to a home at 87th and 16th NW, but that may not be where the victim is as he's apparently drunk and unable to give the 911 dispatcher accurate information. Police are looking for a white pickup with Alaska plates.

Seattle police were called to the Wedgwood neighborhood early this morning after a woman was found dead on a quiet residential street. Seattle Police Department spokeswoman Renee Witt says a couple were out walking their dog at about 6:30 this morning when they came across a white female in her 30s or 40s laying on the ground in the 9100 block of 27th Ave NE. The couple called 911 and medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Witt says there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.

From the SPD Blotter: On March 12th, at approximately 8:11 AM, a complainant called 911 to report that a black male dressed in black clothing had entered a local mission in the 300 Block of 2nd Avenue Ext. South and [allegedly] threatened to blow the place up. The suspect had a suspicious looking device taped to his wrist and had covered himself with black duct tape. The SPD blotter notes that the suspect entered the mission looking for breakfast before informing staff that he was a vampire. He wanted Suspect Jymaika S. Hutson, wanted for an April 2007 homicide in the Central District, is now in custody. He was arrested this morning at approximately 9:00 a.m., in Thurston County by the Pacific Northwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force. He is currently being interviewed by detectives and will be booked later into the King County Jail. His future's so bright, he needs shades Seattle Police Department spokeswoman Renee Witt says the Pacific Northwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force arrested Jymaika S. Hutson in Thurston County at about 9:00 am this morning. Hutson has been charged for the 2007 murder of Tyree Eugene Lee Sr. Seattle Police didn't immediately have details about the arrest.

On March 11th, at approximately 4:12 AM, East Precinct officers responded to a call of a stabbing in the 1700 Block of Bellevue Avenue. Officers located a 23 year old male who had been stabbed in his left arm. The Seattle Fire Department was summoned to treat the victim for his wound. A description of the suspect and his female companion was broadcast, based on information from the victim. Officers recalled seeing a suspect matching that description earlier in the morning on Broadway. Officers conducting an area search for the suspect entered a store in the 500 Block of Broadway Ave. East and located the suspect and his friend. The male suspect was positively identified as the one responsible for the stabbing. A weapon was recovered. The victim does not have life-threatening injuries. The 20 year old suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault. Police are investigating yet another unfortunate incident on a Metro bus after an 11-year-old boy was robbed in South Seattle last week. According to a police report, the boy was on the problem-plagued #7 bus at about 7:30 p.m. on March 3rd when he pulled out his phone to read a text message. A group of four or five black males, all 16-17 years old, approached the boy and told him to hand over his phone.
