There were no reported injuries and no arrests after a gunfire incident involving a shooter reportedly firing from the sunroof of an SUV on E Jefferson just west of Garfield High School Tuesday afternoon.
According to East Precinct radio updates, witness accounts described the shooter in an SUV reportedly opening fire on another vehicle near an unloading Metro bus and students on E Jefferson near 22nd Ave around 1:20 PM.
Both SUVs fled the scene.
Police were collecting shell casings along E Jefferson and video evidence from security systems and the nearby Garfield campus.
Police were also working to obtain security video from the Metro coach.
A driver later contacted police and reported they had been shot at near Garfield High School and drove away from the scene before calling 911.
Seattle leaders held a series of public safety meetings in March amid a continuing surge in gun violence including an afternoon shootout between two vehicles last month that sent a 17-year-old Garfield student caught in the crossfire to the hospital with serious injuries to her leg.
