Search for escaped prisoner spreads out around Harborview — ALSO: Bellevue Ave arrest after gunfire

King County Sheriff and Seattle Police units assisted by the county’s Guardian One helicopter are searching the area around Harborview for an escaped suspect who fled handcuffed from the area.

According to a message posted to the SPD Twitter account, the suspect is described as a Samoan male, age 31, 5’8, 170 pounds, wearing handcuffs.

The suspect has been on the run in the area since before 1:45 and has thus far eluded capture.

Based on the emails we’ve gotten, I think they must’ve thought they had him confined to one of the parking decks, because it was closed off. As of 2:30, said deck was pronounced “clear” which I assume means that they didn’t find him there.

Are we supposed to draw the conclusion that the 9:25 pm update about the arrest in the Bellevue Ave apartment is related to the escaped prisoner running around The Hill earlier today?

I think our escaped prisoner might be my attorney. But their weight estimate is light by about 130 pounds.

No. Stacking the stories together in this post is confusing — sorry about that. But separate incidents as far as I know.

How about what he was wearing? Could it have been a red jump suit? That would change the approach.

“If you see a handcuffed man running around near First Hill, give police a call.”

I witnessed this but thought he was just a club-z customer who got lost…
