CHS Pics | Capitol Hill’s streetcar changes make for a busy Broadway

Busy Broadway (Image: CHS)

The current condition of Broadway between Seattle Central and First Hill is so crowded and busy with construction and traffic that it almost feels like a real city around here. Construction of the First Hill streetcar continues — only one year and 50 weeks or so to go.

Current efforts along Broadway between Pine and Madison involves work like the manhole installation near SCCC pictured below. This weekend will continue construction of drainage connections near Pine and the Union intersection as well as continued “electrical ductbank” work on Pine. Be prepared for closed lanes and non-existent turn lanes in the area. The city is recommending bikers especially consider alternative routes.

You can sign up for email construction bulletins and get more information about the ongoing project at seattlestreetcar.org/firsthill.htm. We recently reported on many of the changes and issues ahead here.
