Seattle Fire battled smoke and flames in the Cherry Hill neighborhood in a house fire that left several people without a home late Friday night.
The fire at 709 15th Ave near E Cherry was reported at 11:10p. Crews fought the fire in the three-story wood-frame multifamily structure for nearly 20 minutes. In the basement, SFD found downed live wires but we do not have an official cause from officials yet.
We also have no official reports of injuries but Red Cross says that seven adults and nine children were displaced by the blaze and that the agency was providing food, clothing and shelter to assist.
Neighbor @jonbhamilton reported “a LOT” of smoke in the area and sent us the picture from the scene on this post.
Note: We’ve updated the name we used for the area where the fire occurred to the more specific Cherry Hill used by residents of the area.
On the ball … good job reporting.
