Obama set for fundraiser lunch on Pine St during weekend Seattle visit

Next weekend, Barack Obama will spend part of his Sunday at the base of Capitol Hill. Here’s more on his planned visit for those who can pony up the cash to attend one of the day’s fundraising events, those who might like to do some protesting, those who might want to simply get a glimpse of the Commander in Chief and those who want to steer clear of what will likely be a bit of a traffic tie-up.

It’s been a long time we partied in the streets of Capitol Hill as Obama claimed victory. The Obama mural’s replacement has been replaced. While no official itinerary has been announced by the White House, we do know that President Obama will be hanging out at 911 Pine starting Sunday morning around 11:30a. There, at the Paramount Theatre, the president hosts an “Obama Victory Fund 2012 – Lunch with President Obama” event catered by Tom Douglas. General admission runs $1,000.

For a view of the presidential motorcade, you’ll need to figure out the most direct, Secret Service-approved route from Medina to Pine. Earlier Sunday morning, Obama will be attending a $35,800 “per couple” Eastside brunch.

Following the Paramount appearance, Obama won’t have much time for sightseeing in Seattle. He’s due in San Francisco later on Sunday.

It’s not clear if the president will even have the opportunity to sleep in our fair city. He’ll be attending the 2011 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Phoenix Award Dinner on Saturday night in DC.

In his 2010 visit with a similar itinerary, he spent the night at the downtown Westin before his Seattle events. During that visit, Obama also gave a speech at a fundraiser to a large crowd at the hotel.

Given his capitulation to Corporate America – in contradiction to his campaign message – and his unflinching support of Israel (I’m not anti-semitic, I’m anti-zionist) make him a horribly unappealing candidate for re-election. I hope anyone considering attending will remove their rosy colored glasses and reconsider.

Because Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, or Michele Bachmann would be such a better choice….? Oh wait, I forgot Ralph Nader. Hahahahahahahaha!

…..From the “cutting off your nose to spite your face” department…..

nice to know while half of this country starves to death, our “leader” is going to a 35 grand brunch.

What’s pathetic is that you think he shouldn’t fundraise, but leave it for the Republicans to do it?

You want to see more people starve? Elect another Texan to the Whitehouse.

At one point lots of people thought Obama was the better choice and that turned out to not be true.

Half the country is starving? Bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think? There may be many in this country who have to struggle to put adequate food on the table, but I don’t think anyone is truly “starving to death.”

Ridiculous/exaggerated/untrue statements like this always weaken any point you are trying to get across.

So are you now at the point where you think Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, or Michele Bachmann WOULD be a better choice than another 4 years of Obama? Are you on crack?

So, just because you want to criticize Obama, it means you are a Republican??
I agree that Bachman/Perry/Romney would be terrible for this country, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Obama is great either.
The fact that almost all of voting America believes you need to vote for one of 2 shitty parties is what is screwing us all.

There is a better choice in those three and I am not even a Republican.

I agree, there is a better choice amongst those (R) than those 3. I actually think Huntsman might not be so bad. But what do you think the chances are the mentally-challenged rank & file of Republican voters would nominate him? Zero. Let’s be realistic.

Wowzers, I agree. I wish we had a 3rd party. But we don’t. This time, let’s let all the REPUBLICAN voters spin off to form that 3rd centrist party, instead of Democrats flaming out again like they did on the Green Party and bringing us 8 years of W. WhyTF should Democrats “go first” again? Let them do it this time, let THEM come up with a moderate R/D candidate instead of Democrats imploding again.

Thatsright, so you would have been happier with a President McCain? You’re entitled to your opinion, but I certainly would not be happy with that outcome, and I suspect that if it had gone that way many people who are presently displeased with Obama would be worse off.

It’s often said…this is a perfect example of the difference between Democratic voters and Republican voters. Republicans get behind their candidate and stay there, period, and they hold onto power. Democrats elect a candidate, and before long they all turn on each other and devolve into petulant temper tantrums because they didn’t get absolutely everything they want, leading to infighting, self-destruction, and return of the Republicans. Great cycle.

Now people talk about running Hillary in 2012 (she don’t want it). Everyone turned thumbs down to her before because she was too far right. Yet most of the people disappointed with Obama are honked that he’s turned out to be not liberal enough. Classic.

Yeah, there’s been some Change: After election day, Obama changed into a Republican.

And next November, we again get to choose between Tweedledee and Tweedledumdum.

I say don’t vote. Don’t play their stoopid game. It only encourages them.

Fair Share… It’s the right thing to do.

Vote… It’s your right… Be informed and vote…

Pres. Obama has only been in the office 2.5 years. He needs more time to clean up history, 2 wars spend, and strange politics.

So… Participate… For the good of the whole…

Because who’s going to bat for regular working people and not the wealthy elites? Nobody!

Who’s going to dismantle the military-industrial-prison complex strangling America? Nobody!

Who’s going to close Guantanamo? Nobody!

Who’s going to roll back the Patriot Acts and stop warrant-less wiretapping of American citizens? Nobody!

Who’s getting us out of Iraq and Afghanistan? Nobody!

Who’s not bought and sold by Goldman Sachs and Wall Street? Nobody!

Who’s going to stop extending the Bush tax cuts? Nobody, that’s who!

Your only choice for President next November is clear: Nobody for President! Write it in!

I voted for Obama last time, but I think Michele Bachmann should get the job in 2012. Her policies will be essentially indistinguishable from Obama’s (more wars, an ever expanding surveillance state, off shore oil drilling, Social Security/Medicare cuts, sucking up to Wall Street, etc.), but she will be MUCH more fun to watch!
