Last weekend, we posted about a rummage sale inside the justified and ancient Undre Arms as the old apartment building is prepared for demolition to make way for a new development. We’re told the Undre Arms sale will continue this weekend giving you another chance to see the old place before it goes away but we also have news of another goodbye rummage sale on Union. Capitol Hill “winery” the Cork House is selling off its furnishings — including a full bar set-up — as its building, too, is slated for demolition.

We called the number listed for the sale but the poster did not return our calls. Cork House opened only last fall and had plans to remain even if the development of its 10th/Union home went through, partner Travis Scarborough told us at the time:
Scarborough said his investment in building out a space in a structure that at one time was slated for redevelopment was based in good planning. “We did quite a bit of work inside, however we had a very small budget..we ended up using a very high percentage of recycled elements (still working on the final %, but I’m sure it was about 75-90%),” Scarborough wrote to CHS in e-mail. “It was obviously a concept, but it based on the notion that within the next year(s) there is that potential for demolition—so most of our work is movable. And if flattened we’ll take what we can and find another place on capitol hill!”

Meanwhile, a block up the street at 11th and Union, the organizer of the Undre Arms sale last weekend says she is planning two more days of rummage with more treasures and more time for people to wander through the old building. Stop by between 9a and 3p on Saturday or Sunday.
