‘Save This House’ — Chalk message pops up near planned FedRep park development

Neighbor Kate passes along this photo of a community message near the white house at 11th and Republican that is being planned to become part of a new apartment development on the lot. The space’s developer is seeking to win approval of a design that would wrap the new apartment building around the 1900 house. We’re assuming that the chalk message is in support of the design that would incorporate the old house. We do know they’ve got the Capitol Hill Design Board meeting information right. UPDATE: Annnnd we’d assume wrongly. Kate says the effort is being mounted to get the word out to the community that the old house might be torn down — not as support for what she calls the “allegedly” preferred design.

More details on the project including the design presentation for the board here.
