Are you feeling proud? Here’s the roster of things to do this weekend (now officially starting on Wednesdays) from a Capitol Hill point of view. Have fun.

Wednesday, June 22

Thursday, June 23

  • Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG day. “Donations made to King County nonprofits through The Seattle Foundation’s online Giving Center will be stretched further on June 23 thanks to The Seattle Foundation and GiveBIG sponsors, who will match a share of every contribution.”
  • Summer bubbles tasting at 12th and Olive Wine
  • A “fully open” Qwest means tickets for everybody as the Sounders battle the New York Red Bulls
  • Seattle Ruckus Pride parties start at Grim’s
  • I’ve Never… Or: The Ride of Lady Gaga’s Unicorn at 19th Ave E’s the Little Theater: “Have you ever dyed your hair? Have you ever fallen in love? Have you ever taken a ride on a magical unicorn? QTET 2011 turns up the Gaga and plays a game of I’VE NEVER, an original play created by an ensemble of queer youth artists, and asks if we’re brave enough to find the truth, tell them how we really feel, save a life, and brave enough to live.”
  • No Cover Pride starts on E Olive Way
  • Havana turns 5 with a free party:

Today, Thursday, June 23, HAVANA celebrates it’s FIFTH ANNIVERSARY! When we opened out doors in 2006, the Pike/Pine Corridor was on the sleepy outskirts of Capitol Hill nightlife. Today, well, you all know the deal…. We love our neighborhood, we love HAVANA, and we love YOU — and tonight we’d like to say thanks in the best way we know how: By throwing a fantastic party!

  • PrideFeast: Up to 20% of your bill to local non-profits at participating restaurants http://www.pridefeast.org/

Friday, June 24

Friday: 3:00 to a little after 9:00

Cal Anderson Park, between Denny and Pine, just east of broadway.

MUSIC: Loud and proud musicians will take the stage in the park for hours on end. With a warm vegan meal at 6 o’clock for anyone who has registered at that super friendly little table of ours, and dancing till dark. Bring a blanket to sit on and 50 of your closest friends for a afternoon of merriment. Featuring Nora Pellegrino, blood sweep, Bell’s Roar, Dakota, Militant Child, Tin Tree Factory, Mud & Jade, Dreamcake, and Mr. Longhill & the Secret Strawberries

Film at sundown! Bend-It is happy to present this years film Put This On The Map, featuring 26 local young people discussing what being ‘queer’ means and looks like for them. These powerful narratives have gotten a reputation for tear jerking, and bringing out fits of laughter. We’ll bring some tissues if you bring your excitement.

Saturday, June 25

  • 2011 Pride Festival on Broadway http://www.capitolhillpridefestival.net/

A community festival celebrating diversity and community pride. The festival is open to everyone, LGBT, straight and anyone of any background. Live Music, Food and Entertainment with over 100 vendors. Come take a bite of Capitol Hill! Activism at its finest! 11a-10p

Thousands of people wander booths and entertainment stages on Broadway from John to Roy. 2011 highlights include the annual Doggie Drag contest and a new addition — a Paint for Pride art walk. Now in its third year, the festival is a little goofy and a lot of the booths are skip-worthy, but the entertainment stages and the expansion of Broadway businesses onto the street and sidewalks — not to mention the people watching — make for a pretty darn fantastic event.

  • Dyke March — 7p: “Rally from 5-7pm at the Seattle Central Community College Plaza at Broadway Ave E and E Pine St.” then the march up Broadway through the Pride Festival. It’s a party.
  • Liberate — All ages dance party at Sole Repair. Free. Sponsored by Gay City Health.
  • Purr Block Party
  • Wildrose Pride Party
  • Fundraiser for the Union Cultural Center to help with move to make way for demolition and redevelopment.
  • Bend-It Garden Party:

Cal Anderson: Garden Party, 1:30 pm – 3 ish.

This years big gay field day has taken a turn and a time wrap for fantasy. Wings, glitter, capes, gowns, and anything that your imagination can dream up are recommended for this mad tea party. Games will be played. Fun will be had. Feel free to bring along any frisbees, kites, and other such park friendly things. What you bring is what there will be.

Sunday, June 26

  • Pride Parade starts downtown at 11a
  • Pride Day Brunch for 43rd District Democrats
  • Broadway Farmers Market, Broadway at Pine, 11a-3p
  • My Morning Jacket at the Paramount
  • “There Are Things I Want You to Know” about Stieg Larsson and Me at Town Hall Seattle
