Sunny Capitol Hill weekend things-to-do addendum: Stevens Carnival, Dunshee rummage

Here are a couple under-documented (but worthy!) neighborhood events for the weekend to add to this week’s On the List. If you’re involved with any of this fantastic fun and want to tell us more, we’re easy to reach at [email protected]

  • Friday night features the annual Stevens Elementary Carnival to benefit the school’s PTA program. Past fun and games have included the following:

Golf Ball Tub Water Balloon Toss Water Squirt Nail Hammering Stomp Rocket Airplane Toss Ring Toss Cake Walk Hoop Shoot Air Blaster Marble Grab Pond (formerly Soap Grab) Fortune Telling Face Painting Water Balloon Launch Recycle Race Nut Cracker (nut allergies beware) Small People’s Carnival: Hoop Shoot Bean Bag Toss

Guaranteed good times. Starts at 5p. Corner of 18th and Galer. Bring cash. Last year’s prices: Game tickets cost 25 cents, meals cost $8, raffle tickets were $2 a pop. Inflation in 2011 due to rising fuel prices and the spiraling cost of stomp rockets? Attend and let us know.

  • Dunshee House rummage sale: We dare you to find another reference online but we’ve seen the utility pole flyers. It’s on. This weekend. Dunshee House is located at 303 17th Ave E. More Capitol Hill Pride events. UPDATE: Details via Craigslist: “Come out and find great deals and many hidden treasures at the Annual SASG/Dunshee House Rummage Sale. Saturday, June 4 & Sunday, June 5, 10am – 4pm. Cash, Visa, & Mastercard accepted. Conveniently located at the northwest corner of 17th Avenue E & Thomas, one block behind Group Health, on Capitol Hill. “
  • What an excellent warm-up for the Capitol Hill Garage Sale Day! June 11th — 10a-3p Details: http://capitolhillgaragesale.com
  • Seattle Tilth container herb gardening class at Cal Anderson. Free. Awesome. Starts at 10a.
  • Loved but left out of our listings, check this out at Ghost Gallery Friday night: “An intimate, courtyard, acoustic appearance by Damien Jurado to celebrate the 2.5 day exhibit of art & photos inspired by Jurado’s 2010 album Saint Bartlett.” $5. E Denny at Summit.

Plus the rest of our Saturday/Sunday listings:

Saturday, June 4

Sunday, June 5

You say the 520 bridge is closed on Saturday June 4 but the 520 closures don’t start until next week. You scared me.

Sorry for the error — not sure how I got that one off but full closure isn’t until later this month. Fixed
