Normally there’s a Christmas tree farm that has a stall at the farmer’s market this time of year. I would imagine they’d be there this Sunday.
Any advice on where I can get a non-dead small potted tree, like the one in the picture?

I’m going to purchase my tree at el Centro in honor of Roberto Maestas who died earlier this year. He was an amazing man, civil rights leader and social justice activist.

The Dunshee House tree sale has been our one-stop shop for all of our trees for many years now. They have a great assortment of varieties and sizes, and the fine folks that assist you do a great job year after year. The Dunshee also carries pine wreaths and I think some pine branch banners/bunting, as well as stands and the essential hardware. I’d forget going elsewhere to find accessories and look no further than this fine house on the corner of 17th and Thomas!
If I get a tree this year, it will be strapped to the top of my car for the ride home. Does anyone know if Dunshee House or DelaRaza will provide rope and help with tying-to?
If not, does anyone know somewhere in the city at a reasonable price that provides such service? I’m just too lazy, I guess, to go buy some rope.
I would suggest a norfolk pine. It’s a really great, easy to keep houseplant but also sturdy enough for lights, ornaments and decoration for Christmas.
I volunteered at the Dunshee House tree sale a few years back and they had twine and we helped secure the trees to people’s cars. I can’t guarantee they still do that, but it only makes sense that they would.
Yes, the Dunshee house folks will be happy to tie it to your car. They are very helpful there!

Dunshee House did a great job. Never had a nicer tree and they were all very helpful. FYI: Got a great 6-foot tree for $58! Very happy!!
The Capitol Hill Alano Club Tree Lot also has helpers to tie tree to your car (and have the rope etc). CHAC is also a non-profit organization, providing meeting space for a variety of 12-step groups including AA, NA, SAA, SLAA, Al-anon, etc. They provide a great service for the GLBT community.
