CHS saw a rumor from a Capitol Hill business owner this afternoon on Twitter about an interesting new tenant coming to 321 Broadway E, the empty retail space next to the Vivace walk-up bar:
lease is signed, for lease sign removed, and David of Rudy’s is in the space measuring the space
We looked into it and, yes, it turns out, somebody has indeed leased the space. And that might have been David. But it’s not Rudy’s.
Instead, we’re told the location is being gutted of the fixtures needed for the Hair Connection salon that used to call the space home and prepared for a new vintage clothing shop. Our sources won’t say who is behind the shop other than the business operates another clothing store in Fremont.
This spring we reported on nearby Crossroads Trading’s expansion into the old Broadway Grocery space. We also reported on Hair Connection’s move into the Odd Fellows Building.
“Glad it’s not pho/sushi/pizza/tanning” comments begin now…

I want some kind of tacos on that end of the hill and I want them now! :)
Inside the Ally by Hana and Table 219 is a great little Pupusa (Think: Salvadorian tacos) place. Pretty yummy and has that same type of Taco flavor.
I don’t think the guys here like tacos…
lol. Qdoba is moving into the Joule, that’s only 2 blocks away.
Oh great. Just what the hill needs a mediocore national chain. Hopefully this does not start a trend.
so lame.
Is it a for sure thing that Qdoba is moving into a Joule Apts. retail spot ? And if so would you have any background information as to your source ?
Just checked the permit status on the DPD website for Joule and it includes this permit for Qdoba (issued July 20th).
how this post is about a vintage clothing store and all of the comments are about (quasi) Mexican food.
1) I’m eh about chains but it’s nice to see something going into the space and sometimes, yes, a person just wants to go to a fast food chain. Is that so horribly wrong?
2) I’ll insert the obligatory “Glad it’s not pho/sushi/pizza/tanning” although ironically I wouldn’t mind a pizza place down on that part of Broadway as the only one I can think of is Bella up by the Fauxbucks.
and last, but most on point, 3) Welcome to the neighborhood, mystery vintage shop! Hope your prices are reasonable and your selection good.
Bella has closed. Is Pagliacci not close enough for you?
Pagliacci??
Yeah, I was going to say, Pagliacci is approximately 200 feet from the Joule apartments.
I love the idea of another vintage clothing store on Capitol Hill. One of the things that has always been a draw for me to this area is the eclectic composition of the businesses.
Yey, for something new and fun coming to the area (something different at least)!

Oops. I forgot about Pagliacci’s.
And if 15th can have 3 pizza restaurants in a 3 block radius, Pagliacci’s can handle competition from another, especially if Bella is gone.
I wonder if it’s Private Screenings? They’ve got a nice selection of clothes in their Fremont store, so it would be nice to have them in the neighborhood.
Yea! More cool vintage!
Private Screening in Fremont closed months ago.
I hope it’s a buttwhole shop. can’t get enough of that buttwhole.
All you people do is whine about this or that! “Oh I don’t want this to change. I don’t want that store up here.” I bet all of you “anti-chain” people went to Taco Bell and Jack In The Box when it was there. Don’t even try to deny it either.
In my own opinion, you all suck ass anyway! You are stuck on being “special” and think that you’re all that. You all need to go to Wisconsin to get some cheese to go with your whining!!
Private Screenings was a definitely a neat shop, and it’s unfortunate they had to close. there’s the Fremont Vintage Mall (which i’m absolutely obsessed with) and it would be awesome if they set up shop on Broadway.
